all tuckered out.

these ladies are relentless!! I have to be ON THE BUS at 7.30 and then I don’t get back to my hotel until around 10 at night. I packed a suitcase full of supplies thinking that I would be able to make jewelry for Craftacular over the weekend, but…nope. Haven’t made a thing. I feel like such a lame-o. Most of the women here are older than me, and I’m the one saying I need to get back to the hotel and sleep.

Our bus driver took us to the Oklahoma City Memorial the other night. For some reason, I do not remember ever seeing photos of that memorial before. There is a reflection pool and next to it there is an arrangement of chairs, each with the name of a victim of that day on it. At night, the chairs are lit from the underside, which made the whole place sort of erie. I’ve been to many memorials for various wars, tragedies and the like, but the chairs…I dunno. They really made you realize the significance of every single person that was lost and emphasize that these were people, not stories. But…more interesting than the actual memorial was the guard that was there that night. He told us about how he delt with that day (he said that being in the south, most of the people thought it was the apocolypse), and it turns out that he was Timothy McVay’s commanding officer in the army. Weird…
