What’s that awful noise… oh, Creed.

I made it! Yes, I’m in Lake Jackson. I arrived on Wednesday, and after a brief visit to Mart, TX my presence was promptly demanded at Shooters, one of only two bars in the city.

Being from NYC, I forget that people here start their evenings early… like 8 pm. That’s about when I’m usually doing dinner before heading to the bar around 11 or so. No dice in a Texan dry county. Bar closes at 12.

So, I arrive at Shooters and realize, “Yee haw! It’s Karaoke Dollar Beer Night!!” Dollar Beer Night? Yes. Dollar Beer Night does exist where beer costs a whole freaking dollar. A DOLLAR! And after several $1 beers, Creed and Nickleback still suck, no matter who’s singing those horribly written songs.

I brought fabric home to work on a few projects for a freelance thing I’m working on for Hancock Fabrics. My mom has a Singer that’s older than I am, and although it’s what I learned to sew on, I’m now spoiled from my machines at work. I had the thing serviced as a Mother’s Day present a couple of years ago, and I can see from the test swatch the service guy made is still in the machine…Glad I got that taken care of! Haha. We’ll just see if these freelance projects actually get done. I have a feeling that ll I’m going to work on while I’m here is my indegestion.
