Oh, the Bronx Zoo. How I love you, let me count the ways.

I was able to go to the zoo this weekend, however I had a complete lapse of concentration and forgot my camera. Actually, I don’t think I forgot so much as just didn’t want to go to my house in Brooklyn on the way from Astoria to the Bronx… the Triborough Bridge is hard enough to deal with without a detour to Brooklyn. John was kind enough though to let me take a pic with his camera. The subject of my photo: a camel who was being led around in a circle while kids sat on his back. ugh.

The Bronx Zoo is hands-down the most amazing zoo I have ever had the privilege to traipse around. Almost the entire thing is shaded with lovely trees and the area was so large they even had a cable car go across the entire thing that allowed us to get a bird’s eye view of the place. Very cool. If you ever are able to get yourself to this place, by all means pay the extra money for the gorilla exhibit… It’s worth the trip to the Bronx just for that.

I even got to see my fantasy pet.. the fennec fox! I have always fantasized about owning one of these little guys and naming him Michael J. Fox. They’re about the size of a small cat, and they’d beat just about anything you put up against it in a cute contest. Even kittens. YES. Kittens.
