Sewing Republic and Burda Scarf Dress Challenge!

Burda and the Sewing Republic have teamed up to make a challenge out of my scarf dress project! The winner gets an Bernina Activa 210 sewing machine–a very nice prize, indeed! To enter the challenge, sew up your version of my scarf dress project. For full instructions visit the Sewing Republic site. Upload your photos to the Burda Style site by September 23rd. Then you’ll get to vote on the winner!

  1. Hi,
I might like to try this, if I can find someone thin enough to wear it!
But I don’t see any information on scarf size, or material. Also, does it have to be a scarf, or can it be fabric the same size? I’ve been getting material printed with my own surface patterns recently, and looking for things to make with it.

    • Hi harriet,
The two scarves I used were Oscar de la Renta scarves and they were 100% silk. I’m not completely sure of their exact size, but I think scarves generally come in only two or three generic sizes. I’m actually in jury duty right now so I can’t double check, but I think there about 2 ft square? I’ll check again when I get home.

  2. Also, I’m not sure about whether or not you can use fabrics instead of scarves. You should email or comment on the Burda site and ask them. I would think you’d need to include at least one scarf.

  3. Thanks for your post and that wonderful blog you are running!
